Talk With Me Early Language Services is a free community-based, family-centered service. Our speech-language pathologists and speech therapy assistant work to strengthen the abilities of parents, caregivers, and community partners to support communication, early language, and literacy development.
We offer free early language programs and services for parents of children from birth to school entry.
Please note that our services do not include English language instruction.

Programs
We offer parent-child programs and information sessions focused on early language and literacy.
Our programs are facilitated by trained speech therapy assistants and speech-language pathologists.
Below you will find a list of our programs with descriptions – please note the age ranges for each program. Registration for these programs opens throughout the year and is accessible through our program calendar .
A referral is not necessary to register for programs.
Communication Begins at Birth – Prenatal
This 2-hour prenatal session offers information presented by a speech-language pathologist to parents-to-be on the development of early communication and strategies for stimulating early language skills.
Infant Massage – Pre-crawling infants
Touch is an infant’s first form of communication. Bring your baby to this five-week session and learn simple massage techniques that will nurture their development. Facilitated by a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) from the International Association of Infant Massage.
Baby Talk – Birth to 10 months
Learn from a speech-language pathologist how to make communicating with your baby easy and fun. Talk and exchange ideas with other parents on topics relating to language development.
Baby Sign – Birth to 12 months
Come join us for an information session led by a speech-language pathologist on using signs and gestures with your baby. Learn more about what to consider before trying baby sign, and how to get started.
Babies & Books – Birth to 12 months
It is never too early to start reading with your baby! Join us for an informal information session on selecting age-appropriate books and what you can do to start building your baby’s emerging literacy.
Baby’s First Words – 10 to 18 months
Led by a speech-language pathologist, learn and practice strategies to support your child’s language development.
Read & Play with Me – 3 years
Early childhood is the best time to begin building your child’s early literacy skills through play! Join us with your child for this multi-week interactive program and participate in a variety of play-based learning activities that demonstrate how to go beyond just reading a story.
Talk, Read, Learn – 4 to 5 years old
A child’s oral language and pre-literacy skills are important predictors of school readiness and success. During this multi-week interactive program, you and your child will participate in activities that demonstrate ways you can support your child’s development of key early literacy skills.
Songs & Rhymes – Various ages
Help build your child’s language and literacy skills by doing fun and interactive activities. Join us and have fun learning rhymes, singing songs with your child, and listening to stories.
Raising Bilingual Children – Parent session
We have summarized the research on how children become strong multi- or bi-lingual communicators and are ready to address common questions and misconceptions in this 1 ½ hour session led by a speech-language pathologist.
Our programs are by registration only due to limited space.

Consultations
If you have concerns about your child’s speech and language development, bring your child to meet with one of our speech-language pathologists for a one-on-one consultation. Together, we will discuss your child’s communication needs. We will provide you (the parent/caregiver) some strategies and coaching to help you support your child’s language development.
We provide these services for children:
1. up to kindergarten entry
2. that have not yet seen a speech-language pathologist
► If your child has started kindergarten or is currently in school, please get in touch with your child’s teacher to connect with a school-based speech pathologist.
► If they have previously been seen by an SLP, please reach out to them for continued service or call the hospital for further information on file transfers.
There is no fee for this service and families may refer themselves.

We will ask for the following information to create a file:
• Do you have an appointment at the hospital to see a speech-language pathologist, or have you seen an SLP before?
• Does your child have an autism diagnosis or are you currently working with another agency such as VIVA?
• Child’s first name
• Child’s last name
• Child’s date of birth
• Child’s physician
• Child’s NB Medicare number
• Parent/legal guardian name
• Best phone number to reach parent/guardian
• Email address
• Address, city, postal code
• Does your child attend a childcare center? If so, where?
• What are your concerns with your child’s speech?
One of our speech-language pathologists will call you to schedule the consultation appointment.

Frequently Asked Questions
The program facilitator will email registered families to confirm their attendance and will send the program start time 1 week before the first session.
For planning purposes: typically, our morning programs start around 10:00am-10:30am and the afternoon programs usually start around 1:00pm-1:30pm.
No – filling out and submitting the form adds your name to the pre-registration list. We have limited spaces available to fill, so we offer those spaces by pre-registration order.
In an effort to ensure everyone has an opportunity to benefit from our programs, we prioritize registration to new families that have not previously attended the program.
If you are no longer able to attend the program by the time you receive the registration confirmation message, please let the facilitator know as soon as possible so that we may offer your spot to another family, because we often have long waitlists.
Approximately one week prior to the start of the program, the facilitator will send an email to confirm registrations. All the details and information on the program will be included in this message.
When registering, we ask that you commit to attending each of the weekly sessions, because the material builds on each previous session.
If you have conflicting commitments with the schedule in this session, we invite you to register for future sessions – we offer our programs every few months 🙂
Our programs are offered to families residing within the Anglophone School District East boundaries. The location of each program is noted on the calendar as well as the registration form. The specific address and other details will be included in the registration confirmation email that is sent by the facilitator.
Many of the sessions are offered in the greater Moncton area, (either at our office on Cameron Street near downtown Moncton, or at the local public libraries). As much as possible, we also like to offer our programs within other communities in the school district, including Petitcodiac, Shediac, Salisbury, Sackville, and Hillsborough. Occasionally, some programs are offered online over Zoom.
We ask that families follow the age ranges for programs as they are intended for specific age groups, based on developmental stages.
These age ranges also consider everyone’s safety. For example: some programs may have older children and toddlers that may be too rambunctious to be around newborns.
Due to space limitations and age grouping, we ask that families find alternative childcare for siblings.
We do offer a “blended” session of our Songs & Rhymes program for infants birth to 36 months, which is ideal for siblings of different ages

Anastasia Volik
Anastasia is the voice on the phone when you call us at 506-856-3617. You can also reach her through our email talkwithmemoncton@nbed.nb.ca.
Anastasia helps families complete referrals for one-on-one consultations and answers questions about our services.
Lindsay Frechette
Lindsay is a former Registered Early Childhood Educator with a background in autism and behavioural science. She joined Talk With Me as a Speech Therapy Assistant in 2022.
Lindsay leads many of our parent-child programs including Songs and Rhymes, Infant Massage, and many others. You can also see her at our other events and activities in various communities within the district.
Kristina Anderson
Kristina has been with Anglophone East School District since 2014 as an Educational Assistant and comes with a background in autism awareness. She joined Talk With Me as a Speech Therapy Assistant in 2024. Kristina leads our parent-child programs including Songs and Rhymes. You can also see her at our other events and activities in various communities within the district.
Jillian Ross, MSc-SLP (C)
Jillian is a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist and joined the Talk With Me team in 2022. She has been working with young children and families for over 10 years.
Jillian meets with families for one-on-one consultations and facilitates some of our SLP-led information sessions and groups.
Tiffany Dixon, MSc-SLP (C)
Tiffany has been part of the Talk With Me team since 2017 and has been a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist for over 15 years.
Tiffany meets with families for one-on-one consultations and facilitates some of our SLP-led information sessions and groups.
Shelley Leiner, M-SLP (C)
Shelley is the clinical lead for the SLP team and has been a Registered Speech-Language Pathologist for over 25 years. She joined the Talk With Me team in 2013.

Erin MacLaggan
Erin is the Assistant Regional Director of Early Childhood Development, Anglophone East, and supervises the Talk With Me program. She has worked for the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development since 2015.
